Agege Local Government has joined forces with veteran filmmaker Kunle Afolayan to empower young creatives within the community. The partnership, spearheaded by Chairman Ganiyu Obasa, is designed to provide practical training in film, music, and podcasting, equipping youths with the skills needed to pursue careers in the creative industry.
Obasa, accompanied by the vice chairman, council manager, and other management team members, visited Afolayan to formalize the collaboration and chart a roadmap for youth development through creative avenues. The initiative aims to identify and nurture promising talents in Agege, giving them opportunities to participate in professional productions and compete at national and international levels.
“Our discussions focused on building a strong partnership to create real platforms where young people can find their footing, develop their skills, and confidently explore their creativity within the film and creative industry,” Obasa wrote on X.
The programme will emphasize originality, discipline, and sustainable growth, preparing Agege youths for long-term success in the creative sector. “This is about opening doors, creating pathways, and ensuring Agege youths are prepared to compete and thrive on bigger stages,” he added.
