Engineer Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo, a seasoned petroleum engineer and grassroots politician, has thrown her hat into the ring, declaring her intention to contest for the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives come 2027. With a background spanning over two decades in multinational corporations and UK government departments, Agemo-Okuboyejo aims to bring her expertise to the political arena.
Agemo-Okuboyejo addresses NUJ Independent Online Chapel led by Comrade Kayode Taiwo during a media parley at her ancestral hometown of Igbesa, highlighted the neglect of Ado-Odo/Ota Constituency since 1999, citing poor representation as a major factor contributing to the area's underdevelopment.
Despite being one of Nigeria’s most industrialized local governments, Ado-Odo/Ota lacks basic infrastructure and federal attention.
She emphasized the need for tailored solutions to address the unique challenges faced by different towns within the constituency.
Looking at 2027 as a moment of positive change, Agemo-Okuboyejo aspiration to serve is deeply rooted in her personal life philosophy, inherited from her father: “Make your presence felt in life in positive ways.”
She also advocates for increased female participation politics and advised the leadership of NUJ Independent Online chapel to bring in female members, recognizing journalism as a valuable profession often overlooked due to individual ignorance in Nigeria.
Engr. Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo is ready and prepare to re-contest again for the House of Representatives, representing the Ado Odo-Ota Federal Constituency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with the goal of increasing her visibility and influence within her constituency and Awori domains, setting her agenda on Agricultural Development to Unlock the potential of Ado-Odo/Ota's agricultural sector, building on the legacy of Chief Obafemi Awolowo's farm settlements initiative.
She also described the infrastructural development in Ado-Odo/Ota as a total neglect and ready to see to improving road conditions and providing essential services to support the growing population, providing vocational training and support initiatives to empower market women and young people and assured of supporting traditional institutions and connecting with key stakeholders across communities.
Agemo-Okuboyejo's NGO, the Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo Renaissance Project, has already made a positive impact in the community, providing support to over 400 students across 22 schools and training 350 pupils in coding skills. With her experience and dedication to community development, Agemo-Okuboyejo is confident in her ability to deliver results and make Ado-Odo/Ota a powerhouse in Ogun State and beyond
