Following the report over an unpalatable occurrence on the 15th of May, 2025 as there was a fire hazard which submerged part of the buildings at General Hospital, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos raised alarm as both staff and patients including visitors experienced a panic attack.
However, the extent to which the damage would have emerged was curbbed by The Lagos State Fire Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) in swift response to the distress calls.
In the spirit of humanity, Labour Party aspirant for Ifako-Ijaiye chairmanship, Hon. Dayo Asade expressed concerns over the unfortunate incident, in his words, he stated it was an avoidable mistake that could have been averted laying emphasis on his AGENDA on extentive safety measures for Ward By Ward Governance and prioritizing safety of every homes and business organizations through increase in primary health centers in the wards and equipping the clinics with modern health facilities which will also reduce the pressure on the state owned hospital for the wellness and safety of the good people of Ifako-Ijaiye.
The hospital management eventually has resumed operation after proper safety evaluation was conducted as no casualties were reported from the horrible experience.
