18 Indicted Lekki Toll Collectors Will Be Prosecuted, Says LCC MD; 32 Staff Suspended, Under Investigation, 6 Freed

The 18 Lekki toll collectors who have been handed over to the police by the management of the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) for allegedly defrauding the company will face prosecution.

This was disclosed exclusively to on Thursday by the Managing Director of LCC, Mr Mubashiru Hassan.

Hassan told that the 18 collectors have been indicted after undergoing thorough investigation by the company.

According to him, the affected collectors took advantage of operational hitches which occurred in January to perpetrate some sharp practices at the Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza In Lekki.

Hassan told that following the resolution of the hitches in June, the operations department carried out an audit and discovered some anomalies in transactions as: abuse of the transaction unblock key, non-adherence to vehicle processing procedures, including the receipt of money from customers without processing the vehicles and non-issuance of toll receipts to customers after receiving payment among other offenses.

According to the LCC MD, 56 members of staff were investigated as suspects. “Out of these, six people were exonerated while 18 were indicted and handed over to the police, 32 staff are still being investigated and have been placed under indefinite suspension,” he said.

“Those with the police now will be made to face the wrath of the law,” he said.
